I’m a saxophonist, clarinetist, flutist, composer, and arranger in Austin, TX. I also customize/repair/refurbish saxophone and clarinet mouthpieces. I just compiled seven new original recordings into an album “Big Band 2020” on Bandcamp.
I do regular gigs with The Copa Kings and The Austin Symphony, and a lot of freelancing. The rest of the time I’m composing (original jazz material for big band), arranging (for all sorts of ensembles), and working on mouthpieces. I’ve adapted a few of my original big-band charts for school-level bands – these versions (and lots of other great charts) are available from Baker’s Jazz And More.
I’m also busy teaching woodwinds, brass, and jazz improvisation – mostly at the Austin School of Music and St. Stephen’s Episcopal School, and formerly at St. Edward’s University.
My book, “Saxophone 101”, is a collection of exercises, patterns, and explanations that cover the building blocks of jazz. Order it below ($22, print copy, shipping included), or get the Kindle e-book for $9.99 HERE.
